Cooperatives Day: Stakeholders advocate for industrialisation

The Federal Director of Cooperatives in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Engineer Akintoye Akintola, has said the sluggish progress in poverty reduction in the country is traceable to low industrialisation levels.

Akintola stated this in his keynote address to mark the 96th United Nations Day of Cooperatives held in Abuja at the weekend. 


In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Cooperative Financing Agency of Nigeria (CFAN), Mr Emmanuel Atama, in line with the theme of this year’s cooperative day, ‘Sustainable Consumption and Production of Goods and Services’, said plans are being put in place to enable co-operators to partake.”

The MD of Smarter Grid International, Mrs Heather Onoh, said in its bid to create more jobs in the country, it has created a solar powered kiosk for barbing salon and sale of recharge cards which will enable people to have multiple streams of income.
